Default 1978 corvette wiper delay

I'm putting delay wipers on my 1978 vette; it did not come with delay. I've got a new NOS switch, the delay box, and the harness. The problem is that some yahoo cut off the plug that goes in the fuse box. On a 78 with delay, you took out the wiper fuse and put a 2 wire plug attached to the delay harness. Can someone sell me on, tell me where to find one, or tell me how to wire around it? I don't want to fry a new switch and box!

That's going to be a tough one to find but what exactly are you looking for. Are you saying the plug from the dash harness got cut off? Or from the delay box and harness? My 78 has the harness so if I can help, willing to.

Good luck w/that! I've been trying just to get wiring info and answers to simple ques about the delay, and I am going in circles. It seems that the delay feature was a disaster on the 78 and 79, esp from what I read on the forum. I'm still waiting on a tech response from Willcox. Honestly, I would leave well enuff alone. (I have just bot a 78 PC).

I finally found the one wreck that had the delay harness on it---but when the junkyard sent it to me, some creep had cut the fuse box plug off-all I've got is a yellow and brown wire. I THINK that they are both hot, and I THINK that all I need to do in lieu of this plug is to splice these wires to the wiper circuit in the fuse box.

I would appreciate it if you could take a look at your fuse box plug in to see how it's made, and if you can see if it's basically connnecting the yellow and brown wires to a hot.

Thanks!

I've got a 78 PC I'm attempting to restore with 56k, a mechanically neglected including the electrical. So, I've going through different systems, troubleshooting. Don't think I worked my way to the delay but have the schematic. Also have a dash wiring harness I picked up last summer that came out of a 78 PC auto.

I'll check it out today and if I find something helpful, take some photos and post.

PS...I remember why I haven't test the wiper system...blades are ragged and did not want to run them over the glass. Sounds like I need to pick up a couple and work through this system

The wiring diagram shows an inline 25 amp fuse on the brown wire and the statement "remove wiper fuse from fuse panel & insert circuit board" It doesn't give any detail on the circuit board though. From the illustration it looks like there is no components on the circuit board and that it just clips in instead of the fuse. I was supposed to have this option on my car as part of the convenience group package but before delivery I was informed that the pulsed wiper was deleted from the package and I would get a refund of $15 to compensate.

Yep...my 78 SA Nov 10 build date had same thing happen. Got the window sticker and it shows a credit for "intermittent wipers."

I've just gone through two schematics and laid out the dash wiring harness and can't figure this one out. the wiper "controller" must have a different wiring harness but the main harness does not have a color code wire with connectors that matches up with the schematic. And I must have removed it (wiper pulse) from the Pace car.

Can't you shoot some photos and post of your NOS switch connectors and the harness?

Default delay waste of time

checked--couldn't find yellow/brown. I found a 12V live and bypassed the fuse (put in another one) for my single speed wiper.

Should have checked the wipers B4 I bot the car--guy said that they worked but the blades were worn and he didn't use them. Ha, Ha, they didn't work at all.

I'm not sure that this helps but I've concluded that the wiper delay circuit board (link) wires with the yellow brown wires back to the controller assembly and has a separate wiring harness from the dash harness. The link shows the schematic with the controller under the console at the front end (link with schematic).

Still would like to see some photos of the NOS parts.

Ok...found the controller assy GM# 470318 and has the brown and yellow wires coming out of it. Also located the wiper delay circuit board...had it dangling with the brown and a patched "orange" wired to the yellow circuit board lead. Looks like Bubba visited here...controller assy totally loose and not where it was suppose to be.

Any ideas to test the circuit? Without turning wipers on!

Here is a diagram from a 81 book. I think 78 thru 82 is the same
