Installed the 427/M21 as a unit today. Pulled the radiator support frame for added clearance and had to come in from the side because the boom on the borrowed engine hoist wasn't long enough to come in from the front. Absolutely no problems with an engine leveler...didn't even tear the new tunnel insulation. Now the real fun begins.
Good job, wheel off with car as low as possible in the front and engine in from the side....I remember doing that a few times!
Looks really nice, congrats
I just did the same task a few weeks ago. It's pretty daunting having a $9k rat motor hanging over the fender of the car with a 200# th400 attached. We got it stuck a couple times but eventually got it in there with no damage. I was nervous wreck though when we were trying to figure the right angle/approach and the combo is just hanging there....
Nice job, Guys. That BB motor looks real purdy sitting between those spotless frame rails. Everything is so clean. Like true gearheads, you appear to be enjoying yourselves.
We are on the same page regarding the splash shields: I painted mine aluminum-colored too. Contrasts nicely against the black background.
Keep us posted on more progress. Wish we had some warm weather around here but like other northern CF friends, I have to wait for the frikken snow to stop, longer days, and more sunshine to put nature back in the green. Sigh.
It'll happen and boy, I'm planning to be ready too.

Thanks. Actually the front splash shields are white plastic, repros from Paragon. The originals were badly damaged and could not be salvaged. Behind them is reproduction foil-covered fiberglass insulation from Paragon. Behind that is the original fiberglass, unpainted with chalk markings.
The weather is great now, but you don't want to be working on your car here in the summer...95 degrees and humid as hell. Makes you sweat like a pig and drink beer like a fish.
