What's this ****?

I know the **** on the left is to reset the tripmeter, but what is this **** on the right?
It looked like it was connected to vacuum lines.

Headlight over ride. Pull it and headlights should come up without turning on.

FYI, when asking questions on your car, and Im sure they will be more difficult in the future, tell us what year your car is.

its nice if you need to work on them or you use it and get caught in bad weather, you can flip them up before they freeze shut or something of that nature

maybe its just mine, but did anyone else notice they guy in the manual always wearing a business suit, even pictures of him reaching under the car, he had his business suit on, I just thought it was funny..
