I am considering buying a C3 with a auto trans can anyone tell me how hard is it to convert to a overdrive transmission and also how hard to convert to a manual tranmission

It's work, the pedals being the hardest part IMHO, but well worth the effort if you're very much of a driving enthusiast. The auto frame's removable crossmember is a real plus. Use all of the correct bits (read, "don't Bubba it up"), and only use a quality shifter. If you're putting much power thru it, or plan on dumping the clutch on occasion, do install a scattershield (with engine plate).
That said, tho I'm very much into doing mods myself, if the '69 in question is correct and a somewhat desirable combination ("rare" doesn't always mean "truly significant") even I'd think twice about performing this conversion.
For overdrive conversion, do a search on 700R4 swap or 200R4 swap. There is plenty of info. Also go to bowtie overdrives website.
There are companies that do manual kits also. Classic Chevy 5 speeds is still a forum sponsor I believe. Probably have to also find used pedals and maybe a Z-bar depending of if you use hydraulic or mechanical linkage for the clutch.
With the auto crossmember being removable, it is easier to convert auto to manual than manual to auto.
