Default AC Removal help

I would like to remove my AC completely from my 79 Vette. What are the procedures I should follow? Anything I should worry about?

In most states, it's against the law for anyone other than a licensed automotive AC technician to open the system. Might want to check beforehand.

If you're set on removing everything, take it to an automotive AC shop and let them evacuate the R-12 legally.

Yes, I would worry about the decrease in value when I tried to sell it.

In terms of removing the parts, It's pretty straightforward. The A/C in my '81 had not worked in years when I bought it, and the whole matching numbers idea was long since scotched, so I took mine out. The firewall panel is optional, but the options you have are either to run around with the giant nonfunctional lump in your engine bay, or a hole in your firewall.

I'm going back with an aftermarket A/C system down the road a ways.
