Default 1974 Horn Button

When I bought my Vette several years ago, the horn button was off (but at least it was with the car !)...I want to put it back on but I have NO idea how it's supposed to mount...
Maybe there are clips that are now broken off ? I'm just not sure...
Any photos or explanations would be very helpful..!

Thanks in advance !
Jeff

Sounds like you're missing the horn contact that's held on with 3 screws to the steering column center (in the center of the steering wheel).

Look it up in one of the Corvette parts catalogs to the left. That would be the easiest for you to see the part.

There should be 3 curved things on the contact (with 3 spaces in between). The horn button has a ring on the underside. The horn button just snaps onto those 3 curved things on the contact.

OK...that explains it better...because my horn button doesn't have any "ring" thing on it at all...(thanks !)

New horn button from Eckler's or somewhere ???

When you order keep in mind that the standard and tilt-tele columns use different horn buttons.

I did a " horn button" search on here and found lots. I was over thinking it. Pushing on the horn grounds it which is what I didn't get.

Does your horn button have this part on it?

If not this is what snaps in to the horn contact. Sometimes if this part comes off the button it can be re-installed without buying a new button. This part is held in place by three rivets made in to the horn button and in most cases when this part comes off it breaks what is left of these rivets.

I've seen people epoxy this on their hold horn button and with today's new glues it would probably hold or at least until you needed to remove it again.
