Havent had my car in for an alignment yet, but wanted to run this by the forum prior...
1980 factory wheels with 85% tread BFG's on it and it drives straight going down the road. Prior owner replaced ps pump.
Problem is when turning steering wheel left, whether it be a lane change or left hand turn, it is very sensitive and the slightest turn of the wheel quickly moves the car in that direction. Right hand lane changes or turns seem normal.
Has anyone else had this issue? Is it an alignment problem or something else?
I would think your porportioning (centering) valve is not centered. These have an adjustment. I have done it in the past however I do not have the instructions and would not want to go on memory. I do know that you can see if it is out of adjustment by lifting the front wheels off the ground, starting the car ans see if the hydraulics cause a drif to one side or if the steering remains strait.
You definatly need to get it fixed as it can be a safety problem.
thanks, thats exactly whats happening. The control valve has been replaced by prior owner so it probably was out of balance new. I will try and adjust.
