Anybody have issues with one of the steeroids U-joint set screws hitting the motor mount? I'm going to have to notch out the lower flange. I will probably weld a plate on the bottom of the mount (and then notch) to reinforce the mount unless anyone has a better way to go???

Yes mine hit slightly. I just ground the frame a little. Installed a shorter set screw with Loctite. No problems since.

There were some issues with clearance of movement when I prebuilt the unit. A little grinding and an extra washer here and there and all was fine. You may need a big hammer to remove the old system.
Same rack, did my own install in winter 01-02 before anyone hit the market with them, easy do, couple of properly supported brackets, and cut a crescent out of the lower/rear of the engine mount horn, and good to go with two U joints....
use the stock tie rod ends, more durable...

Here's a pic of where i'm at. i'll take a few better ones this weekend. It's almost rubbing on the mount without the screw...

Tom,
Before you make a decision on Steeroids, do yourself a favour and check out the integral power steering box from www.borgeson.com. It fits straight in, although you do have to compress your steering column an inch or two. You get rid of the power ram, four old hoses that hang under the car, and gain a modern steering box that gives you a variable power assist, from very little when you're driving in a straight line, to maximum when parking.
Cost is about half of a Steeroids, and you get to keep all of the steering linkage as designed by GM, and no bump steer, either. Plus you get a three year factory warranty and the knowledge that the system is the same type of steering box that was designed for the car by GM, only with integral power assistance.
Good idea Aussiejohn, but I bought a Flaming river tilt column and dont know if it will compress like the stock column. I could put back in the stock tilt teli.
