Not being involved in the least in C5-6 circles this is the first time I've ever even seen "Jake" and I mean here on the forums and out on the streets in daily driving.
That sort of kitsch is no different to me than a big "Powered by honda" sticker on a ricer or a "Heartbeat of America" sticker plastered in the window of a Vega. I wouldnt put one on a C6 if I owned one, let alone my C3.
Totally agree. It will be tacky in no time, better for a C5 or 6 I guess.
I like the logo. It represents the Corvette Racing team "take no prisoners" attitude. It's their "mascot", not like "the heartbeat" thing or "powered by ..." since it's not a "corporate" logo.
I do have a copy of it in my garage, next to my C6R poster signed by several of the drivers. Racing fans get it...others not so much.
I love Jake! He is a Corvette thing, not a generational thing. I am a big Corvette Racing supporter and ALMS fan. I attend both the Mosport and Mid-Ohio ALMS races, and follow the rest of the races on TV and the interent. It was an easy choice for me to put him on my car. These pics were taken at Mosport:
This custom emblem I had made for my car also reflects my love of the C5R and C6R race cars:

I think it is a cool logo for the racing team, so maybe if you're a fan, it's fine for t-shirts, posters, etc. Not wild about seeing it on cars - especially not C3s.
Looks evil to me. It will not come anywhere close to my car. I saw that a couple of years ago and thought it was a joke from some pervert. If it came from GM I very surprised.
If there was a way to make a C3 "Jake" I think it would be really cool. Don't know how a C3 logo would work, I"m definitely not the artistic type, but would love to see someone try it. BTW, I LOVE the C3R racing logo shown above.
I understand they created Jake in 2004 at Lemans...
Whether it is true or not, the people at BadboyVettes.com say they came up with the logo:
So this is our story.
We were at Le Mans in 2004 and we met the Corvette Racing team. We noticed that the team had unofficially embraced skull icons as a symbol of the take-no-prisoners mentality of those intense 24 hours. "TAKE NO PRISONERS" was actually scrawled on the wall of the Corvette pit.
We thought that the team should have its very own skull icon and we sketched our idea over beers on a cocktail napkin.
The C6.R "Mascot" made its debut on C6.R's b pillars the next year at the 2005 Le Mans race. They've been on the C6.R's ever since. What can we say except that we're extremely happy & proud to have our design on the coolest racecars in the world.
i agree that jake shouldnt be plastered all over a C3, but like 7t2vette's pics a little jake here and there to make the car "yours" is what i like!!!!!
-well it seems to be split almost even with a little more on the nay side! i do like the racing team and want to show my support for them, so i think i will put a little jake on my C3 somewhere not sure where but not too obvious i dont want to take away from the natural beauty and curves of Veronica (my C3)!!!
