I have a set of really nice chrome big block valve covers with drippers. they have the slant for power brakes. there are 2 clips on the driver side cover . anyone familiar with these covers ? are they for a 427 0r 454. never had any with the clips on them before. had them for a while. thanks
Hard to tell without a photo, but that sounds like the ones I have on my '70 454. Clips for the various wiring harness and vacuum lines for emission etc, plus the 'posts' for the spark plug wire clips.

396,427, and 454 Chevelle, Camaro, Vette, plus full size passenger engines all had similar covers...the tabs are for the plug wire separators
The original "style" valve cover did have the two verticle supports that except the black nylon plug wire loom deals. The original's also has chrome tabs on the outer edges (next to the manifolds). These are also used to help manage the plug wires. At least on the one 68-69 BB.
1970 454 had the flash chrome valve covers, and I believe the earliest 1971 BB cars had them as well. I put them on my 1971 because I like the look better than the painted covers.
The easiest way to tell is that the 69 and earlier have the oil filler cap that twists in and locks versus the 70 and later have the push in style oil filler plug..
70 is flash chrome with welds and 2 brackets for wire supports on each cover, oil fill is on right side. same for 71 only that they are orange painted.
