For a '73 trans
Have a '73 with the hydramatic 400 3 speed trans and I would like to get one with overdrive in it. Has anyone done this. What should I get and for about how much. Is there any used trans that I can use that comes from some other car?

You will get some diffrent opinions on this. The 2004r is the easiest

I put in a 200-4R and love it.
I have a 3.55 rear gear and I get about 18mpg on a road trip. I also enjoy the better 1st/2nd gear ratio for better takeoffs.
200-4R: 2.74 first, 1.57 second, 1.00 third, .67 fourth
Turbo 400: 2.48 first, 1.48 second, 1.00 third.
