a real 70 LS-6 car with the original engine is worth a lot or they were when the market was real strong. but they still bring good money but the docs better be there. there are a lot of clones out there and I mean a lot
bought a real ls6 chevelle last year, been hit in the rear back in 79 sat and rusted to ****,motor had the intake missing for years, and trans was long gone along with the 12 bolt rear.salvaged the heads but the block needed sleeved still had the crr suffix code and vin # and it was a 512 casting so it was a real ls6 motor, with no build sheet the 70 chevelle like the corvette did not put motor size in the vin till 1972,whit that being said i still made money on the rust bucket and kept the heads...
I know only 188 LS6 vette were made but for some reason the Chevelle is worth more. In the boom I could not believce the price for something that I corvette could turn circles around.
Corvettes are undervalued. Bottom line. Compare every level of "collectible" or desirable vette against a similar Camaro or mopar or even Mustang and the vette looks cheap. I am not sure why. Also compare some of the really rare exceptional one off vettes ($100k - $500k) to European collectibles ($1mm - $5mm) and they still look cheap.
Pretty cool thread you linked to. The LS-6 chevelle in question was once owned by founder of Zip. He should have joined corvetteforum and asked about the car here. Might have gotten a more interested reply.

There are considerably more LS-6 Chevelles built than the LS6 Corvette. Three important differences between these engines as installed in each vehicle, Corvettes use the most advanced made aluminum head at that time. It also used the magnetic pulse transistorized ignition system and the heavy duty dual plate clutch used in the gruelling Trans-Am series of road racing and drag racing. None of these special high performance pieces came with the 1970 LS-6 Chevelles.
