Default ***1968 Vette tail light question***

Hello guys. Can anyone tell me the proper tail light sequence for a '68 when the brakes are applied??? Does the outboard lights just illuminate or does all 4 light up??? Same thing for the turn signals - example: turning left, put left signal on - Does the left outboard light flash or does both inboard/outboard lights flash simultaneously. Just want to know the "right" sequence like the day it left the factory. Any help/info/opinion is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Blair K.

Thank you, sir. I will have to look at mine as the brakes are flashing correct but the turn signals are not. When activated, the inboard/outboard flash together. Thanks again for setting the record straight, much appreciated. Take care.

At my 68, All 4 on braking & 2 inboard & outboard flash together for each side when the turn signal is on.
In the drawings you can see that it should be like that.
I think to convert my 72 to the same pattern.

OK. Now I am confused. Which is the proper sequence for the tail lights??? Just like it was when the car was new from the factory??? This is what I am trying to achieve. I have no books to refer to in regards to this topic. So I am kind of lost here. Thanks, Blair K

When the brakes are applied, all 4 illuminate.
When using the turn signals both the appropriate side flash.
When you have the brakes applied with the turn signals, both the appropriate side flash and the other side is solid on.
Each side is wired in parallel so there is NO inner or outer only with the 68
The reversing lamps are separate under the bumper and independant to the brake/indicator lamps.

I like the 68 brake light/turn signal and backup light system. With a 68, when you hit the brakes, you get four bright tail lights.

On a 69 and up only two of four "brake lights" illuminates, but also the two that do illuminate only illuminate on their interior portions. On a 69 and up, the brake lens is painted on its circumfrance so that only a portion of the lens illuminates.

I think that C3's are suscipible to being rear ended. So you need a lot of bright light back there.

For my 1970, now has 68 tail lights and 68 backup lights. I've installed a 68 rear tail light harness. The 68 harness fits in perfectly with the 70 dashboard harness.

With parking lights or headlights on, all 4 light up in the rear.

Sorry I confused you. That's what I get for thinking off the top of my head and mixing it up. RHD 68 L89 and Ironcross are correct. I just went out in the barn to confirm. Sorry
