Default C3 Tech/General????

OK, I've been around for quite awhile, and I still don't understand the difference bewteen the placement of posts in "C3 tech" and "C3 General."

Seems like C3 Tech is about 75% tech and 25 % general. C3 General is about 40% general, 40% tech and 20 % OT.

Why do we even make these categories?

Your question sounds a bit loaded. Do you have a suggestion as to how to fix this ?

Tech doesn't seem to get as much traffic as General. C1/2 doesn't have a Tech section so maybe we don't need one for C3.

Now about the ones who post parts for sale in the cars for sale section.

Here are my $0.02

On the main forum page, there is only a link to General so you have to search for the Tech section, that could be why some Tech questions go to General.

Originally with only one forum, any tech questions quickly went to the second page and became lost within all the general questions posted.

It was a hot debate when it split...

I guess its loaded. I go to the Tech section, then I go to the General section, and they seem the same. I guess I dont think we need them both, but I suppose if we gassed one that would result in 2 pages of "1st page" stuff getting condensed. It just seems odd that we make the distinction... I dont see the purpose.

Not particularly important...

At least thats painfully obvious... although Im not sure why people still do it...

Maybe if they fixed the link on the main page so that it actually goes to C3 General, people wouldn't be dumped into the Tech board.

Perhaps some people have trouble deciding whether their question is a tech question or just a general question. I like having both sections, I do agree that neither is being used correctly. Just my cents Tim

Ask the opinion of people who proposed/asked for this split about five years ago. If you can find them. Most are history.

Keep it divided. If you are posting about the working parts of
the car (the how to's), it need to go into the tech section,
and if you just want to talk about how much you love having
your C3 then put it in the general section. If some one is needing
an answer to a how to question, but it doesn't get answered
within a couple of hours, then it will get buried and never answered.

Yes, Kurt, it has been many years but I do not post here much lately. I must have missed something.

I remember the Tech/General debate. I did not think too much about it. You had a choice based on subjective thinking. OK a cam issue: Tech. OK a "What Price to Pay" a General matter. Some matters straddled the two. No problem.

Steve,

Are you stirring the pot this evening ?

I miss DJ Dep.

I think C3 guys are a group that feel comfortable with each other and OT is unfamiliar to most, I know I don't feel comfortable there. That could be one reason some OT threads end up in general.
Your right the line between general and tech is a bit blurry but as for me I've gotten used to just bouncing back and forth and back and forth.

Tech is "How do I make this faster/lighter/louder?"

General is "Look at my burnouts" and "How do I post pictures of my broken parts?" (although that should be a sticky or an FAQ secion on sign up)
