Default Corvette registry

I ran across the Corvette registry after reading a post here.

http://www.c3registry.org/index.php?uid=2856

What are the pluses and minuses of registering your Corvette here?

I really can't say there are any drawbacks to listing your car with them. The upside is, you are creating a history for yourself and the next owner down the line with documentation / proof of ownership etc. It also helps in the compilation (data base) of what was made, how many, color combo's etc., as most if not all this info was lost from St.Louis. Plug your info in, it won't bite.

I agree (and my car is on there). I found several C3 registry's but the one you posted seems to be the largest data base.

some people would have a fear of publishing their VIN and Name together... A person with good Googleing skills could ultimately find you and your car.. also same is true for very low production rare cars on the registry.. much potential mischief for the bad guys out there..

No drawbacks, it's a great database for C3's. I've had mine on there for several years and enjoy checking back to see how many have been added.

I'm hoping one day I will see the vettes that were built in front of and behind mine, but I'm not holding my breath!

Posting the car VIN and general info is harmless, except when its used for a reference point for fraudulent activity. I know of cars faked, then entered into one of the databases (C1, 2 or 3) and then people say, "but its a big block- its on the database." Obviously the info is only as good as whats entered.

I dont put my name or contact info in there connected to a car, though.

One friend had his 1969 stolen out the Nassau Community college parking lot. Another friend had his in his garage. He woke up and found the two cars in his driveway out in the street and the Corvette gone.

Me paranoid… Yes, a bit.

There's no one central, agreed upon registry that's guaranteed to stay around for a long while and get updated once the owner gets bored. I know of at least three registries for 73s.

Ask the early C1 guys what happened to all their older registries.
