I used Corvette Central a lot over the past couple years, but it seems alot of their items end up on back order and you end up waiting for the parts. The way their order site is set up, you never know what's stocked or backordered till the order is submitted.

Been using Ecklers lately and have had great service.

Zip, MA Motorworks, and Year One seem really high $$$$$$.

Kev
VIRGINIA VETTES , seems to be the cheapest, but i have not heard anything about the quality of their products.

Anyone out there know if Willcox gives discounts if you order all at once?
Dollar amount discount? Or forum discount?

If you join Ecklers and I believe it's 29.00 you get 10% - 15% off depending on the amount of your purchase. I've been buying mostly from Ecklers because of their discount.

Mayor,

There is a special section just for Forum members on our site.. You'll find three drop down boxes on the site and if you enter your year "76" in the left box, then select "forum special" from the middle box.. you can search for different items.

To refine the search enter what you are looking for, as "panel" and it will pull the special section on door panels for you.

When you see a sub categories, look at them and if they end in a 10 you will be eligible for an additional discount by entering the sale code DRWH3A.

Here is the link to the 76 door panels. http://willcoxcorvette.com/advanced_...&keywords=door

You'll find more details about how to find items on the forum special section at this link. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-p...d-of-sept.html

To transfer the trim is not really that hard but as a shop that does this job, it is cheaper on our customers to purchase the standard or deluxe panels vs paying us the installation/restore labor of the old hardware. The labor cost for us to restore the old parts and then install them on the panels exceeds the cost difference when you upgrade. Your time to do this would be a no cost labor so it may well be worth the difference..

Besides if you do have a question, I'm usually hanging around on here.

Willcox,
Thanks. I have ordered an AIM from you guys, thats it, but I already trust your service based on all of the amazing reviews you get in this forum.

Thanks for the needed support and guidance from all.

I think I will be going with willcox for the interior resto / redo.

One more question:
I read that original seat covers in C3s were a combination of leather and leather like vinyl on the side panels.

Are Willcox 'leather like seat covers' comparable to the OEM / Original 'leather' seat covers in a '76?

Mayor,

The leather like seat covers are made from the same material used on the sides of the leather seat covers. All cars from 1970-1982 (exc collector cars) with leather seats did have leather in the center and vinyl on the sides. The vinyl on the side is indeed the same material used to make the leather covers.

I guess I'm trying to give myself an out here... I don't want you to buy leather like covers and expect them to feel like the leather. They look like the leather covers in pattern and style, however they do not feel like the leather covers. Hope this makes sense.

I will say that we do sell more leather like covers than any other style seat cover too!

If you do have more questions feel free to contact sales at 800-588-3883 or post again.

Thank you,

Willcox Inc.

Mostly Eckler's. Super fast shipping. I have ordered parts on a Monday and they have been delivered by Wednesday or Thursday for no extra shipping charges.

cheaper is not better when it comes to interiors

I use Ecklers,VBP mainly. However had a few isssues with Ecklers. Ordered neo body mounts and bolts for my C3. Sent bolts but put mountings on back order. Couldnt do jack without both?? Got backorder weeks later. However overall they are reasonable if not a little vague?? I would have thought when am order comes in for mounts and bolts they would be assembled and sent together. Anyway job done. In regards to interiors I would shop around. Willcox seem to have competive prices in this area.

Regards

Mayor.

Back when the trim was not available for the door panels this was the only way you could do an update on your interior. I've done a bunch of these conversions. I have a little write up on our site about going from bare to standard but not to Deluxe. http://willcoxcorvette.com/repairand...lp.php?hID=113

However, doing deluxe panels is only a few steps more.

On the upper metal plate all you need to do is mark it and drill the holes. You can mark the plate hole locations using the existing plate buy setting the plate where it belongs and marking the location of the holes buy pushing downward in the panel. Once you have the hole marked you drill the holes and mount the upper panel.

On the lower molding and carpet boots. You again use the molding to mark the position you need the holes in but before you install this you must also install your carpet boot. The lower door panel carpet must be positioned on the panel, and then glued in place. Once you have the carpet glued to the door panel you then use a Swingline Stapler and staple the vinyl on the back side. With this done you then install the lower molding over the edge of the carpet.

It is a smart idea to go to your hardware store and purchase some screws that are about 1" longer than the original screws for the lower trim molding. This will allow you to draw down the molding easier and in to position.

Hope this helps.. It's really not all that bad of a job... Just take your time and you'll pull it off.

Additionally, I am changing the color of the interior from tan to black. I will be trying to keep as many of original parts as I can, but dying them black.

Has anyone had success dying an interior to something other than the original color?

Pics? (before and after would be great)

Thanks for all of the help.
