Default Plexiglass or clear mud flaps?

I'd like to drive all winter in my vette, but even on beautiful winter days without snow, there is a ton of gravel!!! I've seen at a show years ago, a guy had clear mud flaps he mounted using removable clips. They were hardly noticeable. Anyone see such a thing or similar?

aren't you better off with that clear stuff they coat the paint with? i can't imagine that a plexiglass mudflap would look good....

Actually you can make them yourself, use cardboard make a shape that looks good.
take it to a plastic shop and ask them to make as many as you want, make some spares when they start looking ugly toss it, and put a new 1 inplace, those small Binder clips are perfect to clip them on them come in different colors, and you can remove the little handles if you like, I used them alot on a show car I used drive, then just unclip them no holes, no damage. 69VETT

I call them Rock Gaurds, sounds better than Mud Flaps !
you may have seen them on my car !

Lots of advantages to this solution. You have 2 basic choices when it comes to the plastic material. Acrylic or Polycarbonate. You can cut both materials at home with a jig saw or band saw.

Polycarbonate (Lexan) is very tough and nearly impossible to break, but it constantly outgasses. This means it will yellow over time. If you have a fresh paint job, you may get some outgassing residue on your paint (although it's not terribly likely). It is also a bit more flexible and will absorb some of the force when gravel or stones are thrown at the surface. This will keep ricochets to a minimum.

Acrylic is more optically correct, which means it's practically invisible when viewing the flat surface. You can also flame polish the edge and make that super clear as well. If you can find a source for Acrylite SG (impact resistant), then you will have a pretty tough piece that will perform like polycarbonate but won't turn yellow as fast.

No remedy for scratches. You'll have to make spares because they will get beat up.

Thanks guy, exactly what I was talking about, acrylic or what ever, but guess no one sells pre made? Time is premium for me and not always able to sit down and make something. Guess this weekend I'll cut some card board from acrylic or what ever and make a few. The wheel well is round. How do you get around that? 69vette, I saw this in California like 10 years ago. Maybe it was you, but though it was a C2, but memory fades.
The owner did use those clips.
