I agree that there is alot of BS bidding at BJ,but the prices paid for the C3's that i mentioned are real sales and pretty strong prices.I follow the sales of 68-72's very closely, and buy and sell myself, and the prices have been very soft as there are some great deals to be had if you are looking to buy to own and drive.
Thanks for those complete prices. It does indeed look good for the early C3 values. No matter what is thought about the B-J auction, those cars sold, and the prices paid are what the market will bear.
Warren, any pics of that White/Green LS6 you had mentioned in a earlier post? Hope all is well and glad to see you posting as you are a assset to this C3 forum....Jerry

something else i always wondered about at bj. theres say 1800 cars that go thru. and they all get sold? there has to be more than 1 car there that no one wants, and gets zero bids. but theres always at least 2 guys bidding on the same car
There are plenty of dealers at the BJ auction, so when you think there must be a car no one wants, there is a price at which a dealer thinks he can flip it for a profit, and a price below that where he can part it out, and a price below that that he can get at the junk yard, so there will be more than one bidder on everything that goes across the block. The cars are prescreened so you shouldn't get total junk. OTOH, anyone who thinks that BJ documents each car and makes sure it is "real" is a fool.
I got so disgusted tonight with the commercial interruptions that I shut it off and dropped BJ an e-mail through the SPEED website. Told them I can't watch anymore because there's more ads than cars, and I won't in future unless the format changes. They'll probably fail to respond, but perhaps if all CF members who feel similarly added their comment?????????
There are some pretty nice machines, I like some of the oddball ones like the 57 plymoth with 29 miles, or the race car with the tank engine
old funny cars etc...don't see some of this stuff very often
I owned a 1970 Trans Am back int the 80's. 400 ram air 3, 4-speed, 3.70 12 bolt positraction, with a professionally built engine with flowed cylinder heads. The Pontiac engine in this car would rev to 7,000 rpm with no problem. Really suprised me when I bought it. My previous GTO's had no get up and go like this beast had. Anyway, thats what you get when a good race shop builds a motor. I loved that car, wish I still had it to park beside my Corvettes.
Friday Update...69 Gold 350/350 coupe $33,000....69 Gold 427/390 vert $48,400...69 Yellow 427/400 vert NCRS Top Flight $88,800...71 Nevada Silver 454 coupe NCRS Top Flight $54,000.
Again thanks for posting these results. I tried to record the last 3 days of BJ, but DVR failed, so today I'm going to sit and watch it live (sigh) as it is snowing here in Northern California now.
I've talked with the owner of the white/green LS6 awhile back, he is restoring the car. I don't have any pictures yet. I made him an offer to buy it before he got too far into it, but no bites.
Maybe we can hook up this year at Carlisle, always looking forward to that show.
I get a kick out of all the phantom bids they have for example they are at 55,000 then 56, then 57, then 58,000 then they correct the bid to 52,000 and wind up "selling it" at $53,000. Gee what happened to all the bidders that bid the price to 58,000????

its pretty bad, they spend half the time talking to a Ford exec or dorking around & Commercials. If you're lucky you may get to see 1 or 2cars for every 15mins of BS
Theres a lot of nice cars in the line I want to see that are never shown
Looks like a number of C2's and a few C1's were bringing good prices (NCRS Trailer Queens)
Agree 100% and came to the same conclusion early on...........Vette's have been iconic forever.............and TA's have a rather small following that is chasing only a few specific models and years........people are gonna get burned, especially the last bunch of 455 HO and 455 SD owners IMHO.
TA's have always suffered from the open shirt/gold chain macho image problem. They are really nice looking cars, my preference is the 77-78 models but the disco era did not do them any favors.
