Lucky for me, the people who designed these cars gave some thought to the fuel tank filler neck area. Specifically, "what happens when the owner is pumping gas and isn't paying attention?". I was filling up today and the auto stop feature of the nozzle didn't trip. I had my hand on the handle, but I didn't notice the fuel was over flowing from the filler neck. I must have spilled 4 or 5 cups of fuel. Luckily the rubber bib and drain hose was in place to take care of my negligence. The drain hose safely drained the excess fuel down in front of the spare tire carrier but away from the exhaust pipes. Nice design.
Could have been a different story if the fuel ran down over the tank and onto the hot mufflers. What a wake up call. I need to be a little more careful in the future.
awe comeon. you're a ***** if you haven't spilled at least 5 gal on the pavement. Twice.
Nah, that won't make you a man, now if you were siphoning gas with a garden hose and SWALLOWED two or three cups of gas, ......buddy, ....THAT'S a man!
For the record, I don't recommend doing this, it makes you nervous to be around fire for a few days and nothing tastes right.:o

1973..........I'm 16, flat broke and my car's out of gas........so I "borrow" some.....
Burped gas fumes for two days..........became a man...........
Around that same time my dad "borrowed" another Camaro's driveshaft. Can't imagine the dude's face when he came out to take off and it went no where!
That's almost as bad as a buddy of mine I went to school with. He had a 66 Mustang with a 302 and broke a motor mount while running around one night right on the strip. Well in the process of breaking the mount the oil filter went into the frame. He went into a mall parking lot it was around 2:00am and aquired one. He told me about what happened a few days later and I then proceeded to tell him that's a good way to get shot. He did say he rolled around severial different auto's until he found one he could get loose with his hands.
Sorry for the highjack I just had to share. I am glad you or your car did not get hurt with the fuel nozzle accident.
