Look in the vendor catalogs, especially Paragon & Zip. They have redrawn many of the AIM diagrams for better clarity for highlighting parts on the pages. I've also copied some diagrams from my chassis service manual and added them to my AIM because they were very clear.

I would say even back in the day at the factory when most of these cars were being built they reproducing the AIM on memograph machines. Never really good to start with.
