Hi All, 1969 AIM gives part numbers for all except L68 and L71. Need to check whats on mine. Running lean (as per the plugs) and losing power at 4000 rpm in all gears.
Lines good, filter new, intake screen new, carbs and cam stock (L68).
18 psi manifold vac. Secondary carbs working well.
Car idles smooth, great power and torque until 3800 ish. Fuel pressure is about 4.5 psi and steady at idle and as I pump the gas. can't check under load until the snow goes away.
Any fuel pump suggestions if I discover I need to go that way?
Thanks, Rog.
Check the AIM for a note/symbol saying your fuel pump is the "same as ..." If the AIM does not show your specific fuel pump in a diagram, there is likely to be the note.
My Chevy Parts book shows P/N 6416741 (Type 40482) for 3/2 BC and
6470106 (type 40718) for the 4BC. Not sure what your engine is.
Gary
Thanks Mike and Gary, Not sure what BC and 4BC is, will try to find out. I know that the 40482 is for the 4bbl bb. L71 and L68 Tri power can flow 1100 cfm as compared to the 850 of the 4bbl supplied by the 6440659 fuel pump. If it were 1 straight fuel feed on the 3 by 2 set up I'm sure the 6440659 pump would do it. The 3 by 2 carbs split the fuel feed 3 times and at 90 degree turns, and for that reason I think a meatier pump may have been required. Looks like the 40718 is for the L88.
I need to look more at the 6416741 type 40482. Thanks for the help, until now that # I have not come across.
Later, Rog.
Thanks Mike and Gary, Not sure what BC and 4BC is, will try to find out. Later, Rog.
4BC stands for 4-Barrel Carb BC stands for Bolt circle which does not pertain to the fuel pumps. in section 3.900 as Gary pointed out the part #'s, there is no abbreviation of BC with any descriotion, only 4BC
3/2BC etc. hope this helps.....................Tom
