427 build
The 540 was fun but was built for my race boat and ended up in the vette due to $$ and going thru a divorce

Well the divorce is over and I got to keep the car, so the 427 build began.
I used the top end off the 540 because the intake was matched to the air box I installed in the hood and I wanted to keep the weight the same or close to the 540
Motor is a 427 block with ARP studs
.030 bore for a final 4.280 bore
Forged GM 427 crank internally balanced
Dart Pro1 aluminum heads 325cc, inconel exhaust valves, titanium retainers, comp pro mag roller rockers, arp studs
Steffs 6 quart aluminum pan with windage tray, and trap door, a Mellings oil pump with welded pickup to match pan
Cam is a Ultra Dyne solid roller with .660/.660 lift and 276/276 duration at .020 lash
Isky roller endurance springs and solid roller lifters
Keith black forged pistons with floating pins on Scat rods with ARP bolts
Intake is a square port aluminum Victor jr
Fuel is supplied by a Holley mechanical race pump
Carb is a Quickfuel 850 with a L88 air cleaner base matched to the hood air box and painted the body color
Ignition is a MSD 6al box running a MSD pro billet tach drive distributor using MSD 8.5 wires
After the dyno runs we got a best of 550hp and 494 ftlbs of torque
and that was using small 1 5/8" headers on the dyno as I did not want to take my side pipe hooker ones off the car to test with.
The trans is still the TKO-600 with just a fluid change and flywheel rebalance and cut.
I made some new plug wire holders to help stop the boots and wires from burning on the headers. I fought that all last summer

That car looks stunning!
Very nice job.
The car seems to change color in different types of light and its very hard to do it justice in a picture

Check out this album it shows the different stages of the paint job and then some shots outdoors and in different light of what the paint does.
At the couple of car shows I was at last year there were many people trying to get a picture of the color they were seeing but it never looked the same on the camera.
And yes its imposssible to touch it up
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
What a beautiful beast you possess. With torque numbers like that, I can only imagine the smile that crosses your face when you crack the secondaries and grab the next gear.
Wahoo!
I have had it up to 130mph with the last motor and it had lots left.
I cant wait for the spring to be able to take it out and have some fun with the new motor
My Dad gets all the credit for the paint job, he has been spraying and working on cars since he was in high school. I layed down some primer and helped with the jambs and taped off the stripe but left the rest to the proffesional
When I ordered the Holley mechanical pump from summit the tech guy assured me that it would not exceed 8 psi

So I get the pump and right on the box it even says I must use a regulator with it, well I installed it and sure enough my guage was reading 11 psi!!
I have a earls fittings fuel filter below it then up to the carb here is a pic

I am still fighting with the headliner as it will not stay cliped in.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to keep the headliner in?
I was going to resort to bonding it at every velcro lock spot but have not yet.
