i put a new flywheel in the vette, and needed a new throw out bearing so being sunday my napa store is not open i decided to try autozone for giggles since i am driving past. to my surprize not only did they have it, it's made in the united states.
Autozone does carry Timken bearings, but not all are US made. I have bought there before as well, in fact that is where some of my trailing arm bearings came from. Some of them were made in Austraila and some I forget where. Just stay away from the red plug wires......
I GLADLY pay more for the MADE IN USA! BEWARE I just bought a vice that reads American forge and foundry in cast, a little lable reads made in china on bottom
Me too, I care where parts come from. Just missed reading this post earlier.
Timken has a well deserved reputation for (literally) fine craftsmanship and I make note of it's availability from which stores. I will relook at AutoZone when searching for any Timken products in the future.
Thanks fugawi, for the tip!
(btw: love the J. Carson skit where your CF handle may have originated from...LOL)
Or Australian!!! We still make a few quality products down here. Remember that the master cylinder and calipers in all post-C3's are made right here in Melbourne.
