Hi, I am looking to buy a so cal 69 car. It has a good frame but on removing the tops rust under the chrome on the top of the wind screen.
I have done some searches seems this is common on cars from cold areas. Has anyone experence with this from dry area cars? I understand repairs can be difficult, all help appreciated. The car is a bb 427 car with non matching bb, needs paint and seat covers, usual things, guys asking high teens
Look at it this way.....that repair, from what I have read here and in magazines, is $5K if you pay someone to do it......and "only" if the rust is limited to just the windshield frame and has not gotten into the birdcage.
Lots of cars can have a rusty birdcage and a clean frame as well. A rusty birdcage is $20K +/-.......to fix.
Good paint and fiberglass repair is $10K....a full interior can be $5K.......he wants high teens, so with the windshield repair it is a car that you'll have $40K +/- into.....on a non-original motor car........I think the car is probably going to be too much money, ergo economonically unfeasible, to purchase and repair once you dig deeper........
