I have purchased lot's of parts from them both new and used. They have a rather large stock of used parts. No bargins but they usually have what ever I have needed. They also have a large shop to accomidate body and mechanical. Also understand they have a line of fiberglass panels.
A few years ago I decided to change to electric windows. Since I was going down to SoCal in a few days, I called J&D and got a price for the complete set up out of a dismantled Vette. I wanted it and offered to put down a deposit. The guy on the phone said I would not need to put a deposit on it because they had plenty. When I got down there, I called before driving out so that they could have it all together. The guy on the phone (different guy) said that my price was incorrect. I told him I had called a few days before and been quoted that. He asked who I talked to, but I foolishly had not written down a name. Then he said, "No one here gave you that price." In other words, he clled me a liar. So, for me. J&D means
BTW I bought the set up from Carol's Automotive in Santa Clara for less than the quote!
I bought a one-piece front clip and inner fenders for my 72. Nice product and nice guys to work with. I ordered the clip on Friday, and it was ready for pick up the following Thursday. I recommend them.
I have bought from them a lot of used and new parts... They treated me good so far..The sales person I used to deal with there is gone do.. they have replaced a couple of parts for me that were damaged... Good customer service... This guys are local for me so whenever I need something fast they are there for me.... Good luck
When I had them install a rear end, I told J&D to install new U-joints. (This was actually the second time they did the rear install because the first time they forgot to use the heavy duty yokes as specified and I had to wait for them to redo it!) They forgot and lied about it. They said that the U-joints looked good so they just lubed them up.
When I went to pick up the car, it wasn't even finished (though they called me to say it was ready) and they didn't even put the bolts back in the exhaust. One side was hanging/dangling and I had to point it out, and wait for them to fix it before I could take the car.
A U-joint broke shifting into 3rd at the drags. The half-shaft came into the car with me! I had the car taken to Steve LuVisi at Automotive Expertise and he said the U-joints were bone dry and that's why one snapped.
Over $3K later, I went back to J&D and they wouldn't honor their work because they said I broke the U-joint drag racing the car and they don't warantee against racing. Sheesh!

As far as I'm concerned, talking to the other guys is like talking about Toyota's and Nissans because older Corvette's seems like a foreign language to them. To be fair, maybe they are up on the newer stuff that they sell alot, but going after older C2 &C3 parts you will get a questioning look and usually they go ask Jaime. He is great! and knows his stuff. Maybe for something less complicated I would work thru the counter guys, but if I am spending money--- I will have my conversation with Jaime. I don't see Noel there! He is the owner and knows his stuff, but Jaime has always taken care of me. I had a bad experience where, I bought some stuff one time and paid for it and picked it up within days and had to go back to get something else and was mistreated badly by the slender dark hair guy because he thought that I hadn't paid for my stuff. He looked on the shelf where he thought my order was and saw that the special order stuff that I had picked up wasn't there, but gave no apology. I went to Coast Corvette off of the 5 freeway in Anaheim, which is another interesting group. They have no clue what they even have in inventory for the older cars. I think they use Corvette centrals catalog and just plan to order stuff for you and then bring it in for you. I have been upstairs three times and in the back over a dozen times and they have stuff. But what they have is a mystery to the counter people. I showed them a set of J-56 pads looking for some cotter pins and was told that my parts weren't- Corvette parts. If you go there, talk to one of the mechanics out back and they will know what you need, just skip the front counter. The guy in the back had J-56 cotter pins.! Oh ya, it seems none of the interesting stuff in the display cases at the front counter seems to be for sell. They couldn't find anyone of any importance to get me a price on what I inquired about. That is the local C2/C3 scene at the two most local places to my house.
Toddalin-- What are you doing in JD when Tom's Differential with the real stuff is only a few miles away?
Car was at J&D because the rear end spider gears let go at the drags and they had someone there at the drags at the time who could tow the car (on a Sunday).
Coast built the new rear end with Richmond Diamond gears and J&D had the car so did the install. For what it cost me for the new rear end and install, it cost me that again in broken parts due to their ineptness.
I did business with J and D today. I needed a small plastic fitting for my C4 heater today. I new the part was obsolete long ago. J an D have a huge inventory of good used stuff. I spoke with Adrian today about this part. They went and found one and are sending it in the mail tomorrow. A+ transaction as always. Thanks J and D Corvette
Toddalin-- What are you doing in JD when Tom's Differential with the real stuff is only a few miles away?
Not. Tom's Differentials is now in Idaho. Check out his web site. I went to Tom's old shop in Paramount and someone is now operating what I assume is a differential building shop. I tried to ask about parts to buy for my differential, he refused to talk to me...said call Tom and ask him. Strange.
Bought a lot of stuff for J&D and know of people who've had body work done. No complaints.
I will have to call Idaho, because I need more stuff.
I knew Tom's Differential opened the Idaho location, but I still thought the Paramount location was an outlet. I will have to drive by and see who's name is on the business. I also see a differential business there. I also was talking to the guys at Van Steel about how I modified some of their parts for my usage and also about my differential and drive train modifications while at the Carlisle Meet back in 2007 and suddenly, the parts they sell were changed as we discussed and now they carry the stuff that originates thru Tom Differential in their catalog. I am truly impressed. Van Steel just jumped to my favorite Corvette company. For me a customer to point out things that I didn't like about their products and they took that feedback and changed some things is impressive. And to take a vendor recommendation from a customer and grow their catalog is great. The guy from Van Steel (I didn't get his name) was interesting and we talked for about 45 minutes. Lastly, I will always give someone a second chance to maintain my business. My opinion, is the more Corvette vendors, the better. Also Toddlin, I wasn't beating you up on your choice of JD over Tom's. I would like to always see a Corvette rip up the competition and if the parts break, that doesn't happen. With the greaseable U-joints being pre-filled with grease, it is a no brainer for these shops and they aren't used to the higher end stuff. It is sad to hear that a guy could take a solid core U-joint out of the wrapper and because it has some anti-corrosion grease on the surface, the mechanic sticks them in your car and WAM POW. The very few times that I have had my car worked on, I stand in the service bay and watch them closely and it is unfortunate, but I am glad that I do, because the older the car, the less experience I am finding out there in these shops. I put so much grease in my solids that my entire rear end area needs constant cleanup. I also shoot it in my spherical bearings, and have been using more of the redline stuff which seems to stick a little better. I do believe that Tom's could be the best C2/C3 rear end guys in the business and they even sell the 12 bolt conversions. I am awaiting the aluminum rear spindle supports and the aluminum rear end case that they are working on.
Anybody had any experience with J&D as a vendor???
