Default Door locks.

My 79 c3 driver side door opens only from inside. Outside handle doesnt rich far enough to open it. I took off the inside trim and now cant disasemble the door itself. What needs to be removed in order to get to the locking mechanism? Any pictures?

Best diagrams are in the assembly instruction manual (AIM). It shows the complete installation of the door hardware.

The rods are adj., probably all you need to do is make sure they are connected & adjust.

Anyone has the diagram of just that part? The mechanism looks really dirty and i would like to at least take the whole thing apart and clean it.

I have the same problem, just passenger door.
Us usual the Haynes manual is useless.
Can't get to the adjustment rod since I can't get the water guard off, screws are stuck. Just soaked them in blaster but probably have to drill them out.
Anybody have any PDF files with diagrams/pictures?
How do I order the AIM?

You can get AIM manuals from all of the vette part suppliers like Paragon, Corvette America, Willcox, Corvette Central and on and on, many suppliers available.

Did you check to ensure that the rod did not come out of the inside handle. There is a small pin that holds the rod into the inside door handle, it may have come off, since you say you can only open it from the outside.

Invest in the service manual and the assembly manuals. You can find your answers in there and not have to wait for the forum to reply. Just my opinion, the manual were one of the best investments I made for my vette. Also do a search, I found so much information there. Good luck Bill
