When I bought my 1977 coupe, I noticed it had the wood grain package. At first I thought that it was just aftermarket. But, after reading a few Corvette books, I have found that it was in fact an option. Does anyone know how common or rare the wood grain is?
Second question. My corvette's seats are custom made by the guy we bought it from. They are red/white 2 tone. I know this was not an option. But they are leather with cloth inserts. I also thought it was done aftermarket to cater to the tastes of it's previous owner. But, after reading more Corvette books, I have found that yet again, this was an option. Dose anyone know anything about this option?
Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.
Actually, your books are misleading you. Stock Corvette woodgrain on the door panels and shifter console came with the "deluxe" interior option which ended in 1976. Your car should have a newly-designed black shifter console which fit the new e-brake cover and matching door panel insert. ALL 1977 Corvettes had the "Deluxe" (plush carpet) interior... no "option."
It was very common for people to stick on aftermarket wood kits on those cars. It is not original or rare.
Also, the seats did not come 2 tone as an option either. Its seems very clear the entire interior was customized at some point, a very common occurrance.
