I've driven quite a bit in the rain, including a torrential downpour on I5 in Southern Oregon. It does pretty well in the the rain, but I hate putting the top up.
I drove my 81's daily so in the rain too...the last one leaked pretty good in the floor from the fender mount rivets,
The 69 I now have a convertible will get in the rain it's Florida I can't avoid it, I suspect I will be doing some work to keep the floors from being hot tubs....
I have seen over and over that vettes leak...deal with it but did show room new and restored cars leak too?
i dont know if my c3 ever been driven in the rain being a low mileage car i would say not much if any but i dont plan on driveing her in the rain now. on a different note my c5 was 6yrs old with 6000 miles before i got cought in the rain comming back from the lake one weekend. it is what it is
these cars were not built for anything but dry roads.
they can still be driven in rain or snow but very carefully.
i prefer to man-handle the Batmobile, with both hands on the wheel & peddle down, thru the curves.
the only good thing about driving in the rain is the massive spray , that comes off the rear..it keeps the crazies well back...& thats a good thing...lol

I actually like driving mine in the rain. It tends to rain alot here in Florida so you're bound to get caught in it sooner or later anyway. The car still handles well even on the wet roads, as long as I keep my foot out of it, and it's kinda fun to see the way the water comes up over the fenders. Plus, my car doesn't leak which certainly makes it more enjoyable!!
I live in Florida as well. If your gona drive it here chances are your gone a get it wet.
I also picked up my 69 convertible in the rain back in 1974. I have driven it in rain and a little snow since then. If I want to go for a drive, I do not worry about getting caught in the rain. It is too much fun driving it, to have it sit for a perfect day. In the fall and early spring, I have a vinyl hardtop I put on it. Though, I do not drive it in snow anymore!
When I bought my 79 last October, I made arrangements the following week to borrow a transporter license plate to get it home. On the day I made those arrangements It rained fairly moderately. I was a bit concerned because the wipers didn't work, but with a good application of Rain-X on the windshield I made the 60 mile trip home on the interstate with no problems. The Rain-X worked as advertised (well over 40 MPH anyway ) and even with the drivers window stopping about 1/4 inch short of the top, I stayed fairly dry. I have since fixed the wipers, but have never driven it in the rain again and will try not to in the future.
Daily driver 1993-2001 in the Pacific Northwest. Rain, snow, whatever. It is a car after all.
That said, it generally stays inside for rain now, just because the truck is easier with other fools on the road. The biggest PITA of driving in the rain for me is cleaning the sidepipes off afterwards.
We've been caught out twice now...once without the tops & 150 miles out. Those were the days of early restore and crazy (Gotta Go), frame of mind. These days...if the road is even wet...we do not take the Vette. Too difficult to detail the under carriage. Needless to say, being in Cali., We have plenty of sunny days! (including last weekend, were I aquired a nice face and head burn) Muddy
