Default 1969 Convertable

I'm changing out the engine wiring harness. Need some advice about the wiring coming through the fire wall, through a grommet, leading to "I think" the light switch? This line is tied in the main engine wiring harness w/in the engine compartment. I'm not sure whether this is part of the engine wiring harness or separate? Asking before I cut. Where does the engine wiring harness end up underneath the front bumper, head lights, etc? I'm not an automotive electrician, thanks.

Thanks. I thought they would plug into one another at or outside the firewall however, I haven't seen where they do as yet? The line runs through the drivers side fire wall, through the grommet and towards the upper left direction, in the headlight switch direction.

You should have an engine wiring harness (from firewall plug to ignition, wipers, blower motor and starter in one direction, horn relay in the other) and a forward lamp harness (from firewall plug to temp sender, brake positioning valve, alternator and forward lamps.) This second harness has the fiber optic component (6 cables wrapped together) that breaks out and goes thru a firewall grommet (just to the outside of the dual firewall plug) and heads up to the underside of the dash, then down into your center console display.

Thanks. I'll follow the above info. to trace everything through. Do you have a wiring diagram for this 69 convertible?

You really need to get yourself a copy of the '69 AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) that contains layout drawings of all the wiring harnesses as well as wiring schematics. The AIM is available in print and on CD from various vendors.
