I found a "running" 400ci sbc for $300 bucks, ten miles away. I'm looking for an engine to build, although I probably won't touch it till this summer. Would this be a good investment? Or is that too much to pay?
How much more potential is there for a 400ci than a 350?

Numerous threads about 400's in the Tech section of the Forum...
My machine shop guy who is in his 70's and knows more about engines then most people I've met, talked me out of a 400. There are far more options available for a modern 350.
But what he told me was all the heat issues we have in our cars, why would you want an engine that is noted for heat related issues due to its design.
