Engine spray paint ??
I have stripped the several layers of paint off my 36 year old big block valve covers. Any recommendations on the best brand or type of chevy orange paint? Also....is it a good idea to prime them first....or just spray orange?
Yes, primer is a must as far as I'm concerned! As far as the orange, I like Plastikote. They make a great rattle can paint in Chevy orange and as long as you do several thin coats, you will be VERY pleased. REMEMBER....several THIN coats, otherwise it runs like water! -Neal

Dupli-Color engine enamel is my favorite paint though.....
Also, after the final coat I like to bake them in the oven at about 250 for a few minutes.....
Mark IV engines were not primed in Tonawanda...
If you want factory look and coverage.
I used the engine paint from Quanta Products.
Dead nuts correct in tint. The stuff you can get at Autozone etc. is WAY to glossy and has to much red tint.
I just had my valvecovers powder coated, and there was a color VERY similar to chevy orange available - If you have a shop near by I would highly reccomend going and asking them about it. It is much more durable and well worth the cost.
