Default What do you guys think

I have been away a long time, so I'm kind of out of the loop. My mom's friend is looking at this vette, so I have 2 questions:
1) what do you guys think
2) is there anyone in the Knoxville area that could look at it and let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Brian

I think it looks decent in the picture and the seller doesn't know what "triple black" means.

Try Adam at Volunteer Vette Products in Knoxville. I don't know if they do inspections, but I'm sure they would be able to refer you to someone in the area that does. It's possible that they may even know the car. There's a link to their website on the left of this page, about 5 down, under "Parts".

Yeah, I was wondering that as well. Maybe he thinks because the T-tops are black... Thanks for the tips guys. I sent my mom the link to Volunteer Vettes

Overpriced for a car with the wrong motor.

"Triple black?"

"Triple" refers to convertibles, not coupes. It means the folding top/optional hard top, interior, and exterior colors are the same.

If your Mom's friend is looking for a collectable car he or she should probably move along but i really like these cars and if he or she is looking for a car to go to the local cruse and just having some fun and it checks out of course i don't see any issues in grabbing it.

Really? I disagree. But I couldn't care any less than I do now about originality. I shopped for a long time for an 81, this one would have made me look. If he has documentation on the motor rebuild or replacement, at 9K I would have saved money, since by the time I finish doing the same thing I will be into it for way more $. Just my 2 cents, to some originality means nothing if done right. I buy and build my cars to drive and look cool. But thats not an evil thing, and to me this car would be worth more than a plain Jane 81. Again...one man's opinion and I respect yours. ...Oh and black primer and base is sometimes called triple black, there are also paint colors called that as well(generic not Vette colors), sometimes they are just referring to the percieved depth of the paint, not options on the car.

I really like it, ignore the "It ain't original" crowd if its want you want. And the price looks decent if it was done right, ask for a build sheet on the motor, look it over for rust in the prone ares, but 81's are less prone than some older cars. Good find in my opinion.
