Default 3" mufflers

Put the mufflers on your car. They will work fine. I have 3" exhaust on my 383, it runs great. You might also gain a little power and smoother running by installing a x-pipe or cross-pipe in the exhaust. I did all above on my 383 and it runs very well. And when you talk to your car guy experts, ask them why the mufflers will not work if the engine would run equally well or better with open headers with no back pressure.

You will want to use an x pipe for sure, but either way there will be plenty of back pressure. A friend of mine runs the same setup on his 383 motor on his street rod and not too much can really beat a flowmaster sound for me! -Neal
