Door alignment process on a convertibe.
Last night I was installing parts on my 71 convertible getting it ready to take to Dub's (GrandMasterVette or use to be.) shop in Charlotte to have the top put on. While re installing the Conv door alignment pin on the door jam that slides into a pin housing on the body jam I found that the rear of the door sat to low for the thing to slide into the housing.
What is the best process\method for lining the doors up so that these things fit right??

Here's what I did. IIRC the pin on the door has no adjustment. I loosened all the bolts on the catch, remember it adjusts in & out as well as up & down. Then I adjusted the door so the body lines were as close as possible along with the door gap at the rear, my nose was off at the time so I used the rocker moldings as a guide also. After the door was where I wanted it I held the catch against the pin & tightened it down.
I went through this process a few times as I hung the new nose, but once it was done I haven't touched it. It now is my set point for removing & reinstalling the doors. I can pop out the pin on the bottom hinge, unbolt the top hinge & remove & reinstall the doors by myself.
To realign the doors its simply bolt the top hinge loosely latch the doors & tighten the bolts. Of course its much easier when there's no interior, dsah, or windshield
