I am currently upgrading the sound system in my 76 vette.I am using a mid priced Kenwood head unit, along with 4x6 infinity speakers in the dash and 6 1/2 Rockford fosgate slimline speakers in the kick panels. In the rear i am using an Infinity 10" Base Link amp speaker system for bass. I'm really pleased with the infinity bass link especially in a small car. Finally
my question. Do I want to hook up a small amp to my front speakers, or leave them as is? If an amp is suggested, could some brands be brought to mind, Thanks to everyone for taking time to read such a long post and thanks to everyone for all of their suggestions.

Bill

The stereo amp. may do it, try it first.
A mounting plate should be used in the kicks to separate the front from back sound waves to prevent cancellation for better bass. The speaker should be solidly mounted so that the movement of the speaker cone is translated into sound.

Are you sure the Rockford fosgate slimline speakers will fit. It's not the size of the speaker that's the problem, it's the basket and magnet.

Actually i am recovering from rotator cuff surgery on monday, but I was wanting to use the Rockford speakers in the kick panels. If they are too big, I can go to a smaller speaker. I'm still wondering if I should add a small amount of kick to the front speakers?

Had my shoulder done, you will be waxing that vette in no time, good exercise. If you can take the kick panel off an drive the vette to your local car audio and see if the speakers fit, if not just get the Polk 6 1/2 db651 I know they fit. Do a search on the Polk speakers a lot of good feedback.
