Default Too tall?

The car I'm looking to buy is a long way from here. I'm 6'2, would that be too tall for a comfortable fit in an '81 Corvette?

Thanks,
Vince

In all honesty, a cramped cockpit was the reason that I never bought a 'Vette until the C-5s came out. Years ago, when I first met my wife, she had a '76, with a '79 on order. I didn't fit well in either one, and I'm also 6'2" tall.

However, in some cases, it all depends on your own proportions. You could have long legs, with a short torso, or short legs with a long torso, so I guess the only answer is to "try one on for size"...

Interest different responses. Maybe this will help.
Bum to top of head: 39", 46" (legs), 17" wide.

Shoulder width should likely be more of a problem than height. I'm 6'3" /225 and have been driving solid axles and c-3's for years. I'm in my 60's--and have no problems other than the c-3 is narrower than a c1 for shoulder width.

I'm 6'6" and i fit in ok - better with the t-tops off I wear a 38" inseam, so I shortened the turn signal so my legs fit in better between that and the door panel. Once I made that adjustment it is a lot better.

But even if you have to cram yourself in it is worth it

That's me in my avatar...I'm 6 foot 2 and when I drove my 81 daily I was about 160LBS,
I thought the car fit like a glove...I loved it...my C4 was bigger and I didn't like it...oddly...my 66 same frame as C3 I didn't like it either,
It depends on how you "feel" in it...try one on you will love it or hate it...

'69 roadster. I'm 6'2" 200 lbs. and fit quite well, without any tops. It's a little tight with the hard top on, and a cap, I crouch a little more, but not uncomfortable, but I don't really drive it much with tops...

The tilt/tele I put in made a big difference in the shifting.

I guess I did feel a bit closer to the hardtop...but I like it,

You know I hate to say this because I find the product to be sub rate and trashy...not up to par with a vette but Astro tops will give a few extra inches of headroom....

I am 6ft 3in, and have a 80, it fits me very well! I have found that the seats are very comfortable, and dont bother my back at all. I had Back surgery last sept, and almost any vehicle I ride in bothers my back but these seats dont.

I would say you would be fine in a 81

Mike.

6'2" 265 here. Have an 81 and 82.
I have really broad shoulders so i either have to drive with my arm on top of the door or down on the doorpanel armrest. Either way it is SO worth it.

you'll fit no problem, but go sit in a few for yourself

Im 6"3 and i fit fine... I did find that removing the seat "bumpers" allowed me to have the seat back a lot more and made long journeys more comfortable!
With the bumpers in the steering wheel is just to close even if you put the seat as far back as possible.

6' 2" 185lbs in my 81. No problems here. Getting out with the sidepipes is always a challenge, though.

6'1", my '81 fits just fine, though it might get uncomfortable in cross country mode. If I ever had the chance to drive it cross country, I'd be so damned happy with the circumstance that I likely wouldn't care.

I think I read that the seats in the '79-'82's sit a bil lower to give you more room than the earlier C3's

Height wise I've been comfy in every stock C3 I've been in (68, 2 69s, 71, 78, couple 79s, 80, couple 82s).

Leg wise, the early cars need a tilt wheel or else I have a hell of a time getting in.

Shoulder wise, well, I fit inside but I need the window down to be truly comfortable in my 78. When my little brother and I used to ride around, we were driving shoulder to shoulder. I'm 6'2 and he's 6'5.
