Default rear end clunk

My 1980 auto has a loud clunk from the rear end when it shifts from first to second and third. U-joints are good, new trailing arms and half shafts. The differential top mount may need changing but want to ask first as i think that might be a hard job for nothing.

Not a hard job at all. I would agree that it is the snubber. You can put the car on jack stands and do the job. Or just put the rear tires up on ramps and do it that way too.

And while you are fiddling in the rear area, go to GM parts counter and get posi additive for the rear, do it now.....................

Also check the drive shaft rear universal, unless that's new as well.
