Default took a gamble...

Ordered an entropy radiator off of ebay. I asked Dewitts if they planned on any more specials that could get the price close, and unfortunately were not...so I tried.

The radiator came in yesterday and I have to say, the thing is a work of art. The aluminum fan shroud looks so cool, and he wiring harness for it is really pro too. In the next couple weeks I should be installing it and will let you know about the fit and stuff...and of course...if it actually cools the beast on the highway!

very nice, Keep us posted on how it works out.

I went the Ebay route also and could not be any happier.
Any time I can get good quality parts at a discount price
I'm all over it. Just because you pay an inflated price for
an item, doesn't mine your getting more, Alot of times I
find equal value for a fraction of the average cost.

Hey Riggs... which vendor did you use? There's a slew of them and some seem not to be around for long. If you had a good experience, and the guy's still online I'm about ready to get a new one for the 77. Thanks!

I really wanted to use a board vendor...I used one when I needed brakes, and like I said, I did give them a chance to come close in price...so, we will see! I can't wait to get it in.

Making progress...kind of silly how long this has taken given how easy it is, but I have been trying to route all the wires nice, crimp, solder, shrink, etc...

One more night and I think it will be done.

my helper:

figured we would change the fuel filters, oil, air filter, alt belt, etc while we were in there.

old radiator:

clutch fan worked great, but the shroud had issues.

I would love to know how old this carb is.

the fit of the new radiator is pretty good, not perfect, but I am not sure how much of that has to do with the supports being 40 years old

the wiring harness is nice, I decided to wire it into a 4 point electrical block to make wiring modifications a little easier.

Still have to wire in the switch, and then try to get the pipe plug out of the head so I can put in the automatic temp switch...THAT is not going well.

Making good progress T-B. Hang in there and be careful with the "...while-I'm-at-it..." virus. Could get pricey quick!

Those little guy helpers are always fun to have around. Enjoy the time together and Thanks for sharing.

NO KIDDING!

It actually caused me to break out my corvette books. My windshield wiper door, wipers, washers, etc is practically non-existent...one of the downfalls of buying an AZ car I think that project is going to be beyond me, but the 'while I am at it' virus is striking strong.

I am enjoying my helper, I know these days don't last.

I don't know what year your car is, but you can always get a thermostat housing for a 79 from AutoZone for less than $10. It has an extra hole that you can use for your temp sensor. I would leave the original temp sensor in place that hooks up to the temp gauge. Aftermarket sensors tend to not work well with the stock temp gauges.

I was actually going to pull the plug out of the pax side head and leave the temp sensor alone...still...your idea IS much easier, but of course then you are relying on the t-stat to work.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE WHAT A DIFFERENCE THIS MADE!

On the highway, I barely needed the fan on (granted it was cold today, but that didn't matter before), around town I did, but the fans would take the temp right down...I wish I had done this years ago!

Almost, last night on the highway she ran GREAT...felt like maybe it could use a bit more timing, but really...great.

This morning, popping, farting, and falling all over itself.

I think there is a wire grounding out some where.

So, next:

1) figure out what ports the heads have and order some exhaust gaskets for it (some one decided 3 gaskets put together couldn't possibly blow out...that person was wrong)

2) Change the rear fuel filter that I forgot I put on there about 10 years ago

3) FIND THAT DAMNED SHORTING WIRE!

Then maybe I can get some cruise time

I will answer the first one for you.

Your heads have oval ports, and you are correct the three gasket thing wont work.
