I had the exact same fitment issue with my side trim a few years ago. For now I'm living with it. Thanks for sharing your idea to make your own along with pics. Very helpful!

Jim, my gap was nearly 2" which allowed me to look straight into the center console, looked bad and bothered me, so I thought I would try and do something about it. It was a personal decision and not an easy one really, usually isn't my first time out, but this one worked out okay thus far and as long as I measure three times and cut once I should be okay. Or so I hope.
Glad they are helping and best of success if you take this one on.

Default Getting Close To The Finish Line Now...

Yesterday I continued on the panels by making small cuts and then gluing the tabs down to the back of the panel forms. This took me about an hour to do as I wanted to cut only once and knew I couldn't put material back once it was removed. I then glued the panel, glued the tabs, allowed to cure the required 5-10 minutes, then pulled them tight while laying them down together. I then used Duck Tape to hold the tabs in place to the panel while they set up and dry. I couldn't get pictures of the tabs once I applied glue, only two hands, but I will get pictures of the back once the glue has set 24 hours and I remove the duck tape.
Here is the back of the forms with duck tape in place drying.

They are under a weighted platform under pressure to assure good bonding at the moment but will come out this afternoon and I will remove duck tape, trim vinyl as needed and prepare them for installation. I am hopeful to have them on the car and completed by Friday, so we are on schedule to do that now.

Thanks for your support and for watching.

Are they perfect, no.
Were they affordable, yes, $23.50 for the pair installed.
Was it a pain, absolutely.
Is it done now, yes, completely.

So what is next...that is easy, have to fix the high beam switch that broke in my column...better leave the drivers seat out for that one.

Thanks for watching.
