So Saturday was the first day we got to work on the vette. Replaced 2 of the 4 calipers and brake lines, found that the right rear caliper supply line was rusted to the caliper - so I had to place another order with Ecklers. Replaced the leaky gas tank and lines then fixed the exhaust. Great day overall and now its "drivable" though its out of inspection since its been sitting for 4 years at the previous owners garage. The only question i have is that when we took it for a test drive we were crusing in 3rd and when I went to gun it into 4th the engine seemed to get a little bogged down and almost wanted to stall. Pumped the gas a little and got the RPM's up and then it did the same in 4th. Today went to start it and see how it was doing and it did the same thing tried to get the RPMs up quickly and it bogged down, but when i pumped the gas and worked up the RPMs it was fine. Just asking for everyone's opinion. Keep in mind it was sitting and driven very rarely. We seem to think it could be the spark plugs -- not sure when they were replaced last -- the timing could be off a little. Any one run into a similar issue.

Look down into the gas tank and tell us what you see. Could be a number of things that cause the car to bog like that. Could be water in the tank, rust in the tank, clogged filter, timing, etc...
Brand new gas tank - so no water or debris in there. Checked that be for we filled her up. So I don't really see anything out of the ordinary in there.

It always amazes me how issues I had recently always seem to show up in a post a few days later.
I took the '79 out for a ride yesterday and had exactly the same thing. All the usual stuff like water in gas over winter, clogged fuel filter, fuel pump failing, carb need to be rebuilt, etc starting going through my mind. Today I found the problem. The bolts that hold down the carb were all loose. I don't mean "not tight", I mean they were backed off completely. No torque on them. So I just tightend up all four bolts and the car runs just fine now.
Maybe your carb isn't sealing well to the manifold for the same reason or the gasket is leaking.
