Thanks to everyone for the comments. I did put a lot of work/time into it, and it's nice to hear I didn't waste my time.

Keep the hood popped open if-when you take it to any shows.
Great job!!!
Thanks Brent,
Yes, the camera flashed, and you can see all the dust showing on the hood.
I will pop the hood at cruise-ins and shows...I did before, but now I can without being embarassed by the engine bay.

I finally did it. It started with a simple "install a new A/C compressor", and turned into a "while I'm at it" Engine Bay Detail.
No NCRS, but I think it turned out pretty good. ANYTHING would be an improvement.
Looks great, Bobby!!

I know the time and effort involved in all that work. My engine was a pile of rust when I bought my 80. Went the same route, disasemble, clean, sandblast, and paint. I would definately pop the hood at car shows.
Spectators always like to see a clean shiney engine that looks new.
Daggum Bobby, your back must be feeling much better now. That looks good! Hope you survived the flood okay. Mine is on the road now and I ain't touching it this summer (it's hard resisting the urge to tear into the next project). Time for us to cruise . . .

Well Lane, my back isn't really much better, but it 's not any worse.
I was REALLY lucky with the flooding. I didn't get any water in the house. The rest of my subdivision didn't make out so well. It looks like a war zone here.
I was able to get the 'vette up on jack stands, and the water only got up to the tires. If I hadn't got it up, it would have gotten in the bottom of the doors. Dodged another bullet there.
I had some damage, and I am dealing with insurance adjusters and contractors, so it will be a while before I get her out. I really would not feel right rolling that shiny car thru all the devastation here, and have people who have everything they own piled in their yard, looking at what I didn't lose. It's really bad down here. But we will get together soon. I will give you a call.
