Default 70 side louver retainer

Has anyone inslalled new side louver retainers? I puchased the hardware kit and it comes complete with 4 rivets. Do you have to purchase a special rivet tool? I contacted the company that sold me the hardware and they were sold out the two rivet tools that they carry. They also seemed unsure which tool would work for this job. One is a "C" clamp style. Am I better off purchasing the stlye of rivets that work in a standard rivet gun. Appreciate feed back from anyone that has done this job before.

I used the original style rivets. Used a rivet set for an air hammer. They are available at aircraft supply stores such as http://www.aircraft-tool.com/

You need to hold the back of the rivet firm against the glass and set the rivet at a relatively low pressure. IIRC I set the pressure down to 30 lb or so.

I installed those brackets before bonding the nose on. Not sure how easy the access is to the underside of the lip

when you install the brackets, don't set them too close to the outer edge of the lip. the stud that inserts into the bracket is angled inward more than it looks. the bracket has to be set inward a little so that the stud will slide into place.
