I've driven a few standard 350's (base versions), and a 454, but was curious how the LT-1 behaved compared to those. I know the technical differences in the parts, but how does it feel on the street?

Check out this video at about the 18:50 mark.(short but sweet) Sort of get the idea. Nothing revs like a LT1
I've owned base 350 corvettes, a mid-year 427/425 with solids and unreal torque, a tuned C6 Z51, and LT-1's. I just bought my '72 LT-1 w/air recently, tuned it this weekend, and boy.....I had forgotten what a thrill ride they are! They will give a big block a run and SCREAM with those solid lifters. The RPM's come up quick and the engine can take it. Look up the internals on the '70-'72 LT-1 engines and it's impressive. They're "Special High Performance" engines as the high HP big blocks were. But without the big block weight up front they steer on a dime.
After I got back from Vietnam I ordered a 71' red/red vert./hard top , 4spd , LT-1 . I really enjoyed that little car .Sold it in 75'and bought a 70' LS-6 CHEVELLE .
As stated they are great engines. They don't rev quiet as fast/high as a 283 or a 327 but what they lack in rpm's the give you in torque over other factory small blocks.
Can you imagine strapping a saddle on the Tasmanian devil?
I still remember letting my brother in-law drive mine. He had a 71 with the base 350 in it. After driving mine he said he didn’t like his car anymore.
So if I were to up my current 327 to about 480 HP / 450 TQ, could I expect a similar experience as that of a 427? Or better? Or is it just "not the same..?"

the 427 will make more torque at a lower rpm and you will experience this by the torque pushing you back in the seat. Not saying a 327/350 can't make great power( it most certainly can) but a big block will make more power at a lower RPM and will be less stressed doing so all things being equal.
