Nope. I bought a NORS service replacement carb for my '69 BB for $722 plus $28 frt. It was still in the box and shrink wrapped in a plastic tray from 1972. Not bad, provided they are completely rebuilt and done right, work as they are supposed to and don't cause any problems for years to come.
I was trying to find a correct date coded core (around $800) and then pay (around $600) to have it completely restored. That is way too much money for a carb just to drive around with. I went for reliability and decided to let the next caretaker worry about correct.
