of my brake pedal. car does stop but i just would like a little harder pedal. what can i do to get a more responsive brake pedal (stiffer) without making radical changes?
With keeping your OEM calipers and rotors:
SS braided flex lines to replace the rubber hoses.
Use a Motive type power bleeder to be effectively sure you clear all air.
After that, I HIGHLY recommend a hydroboost unit, and get rid of that vacuum booster mush.
If you do all of these, I would expect you to come back here and praise the results.
These items are not too radical to set-up either, IMHO.
My '81 pedal is rock solid and all stock. If the pedal has some mush in it then you have some work to do to get it back to stock first, then make some mods if you still don't like it. Just my .02 worth....

The stock system properly set up is more than adequate for street driving. Tell us what work has been done to the car on the brakes. Most need SS calipers, new rubber or braided soft hoses and a good bleeding with new fluid. Master cylinder can also affect overall pedal feel. mike...
