My antenna went up yesterday when I started the car. The antenna moter keep running when I turned the radio off. Is there a relay that could be stuck, or do I need a whole new power antenna?
There is a nylon cable inside your power antenna that, if original, very well might be broken. I'm not saying that's definitely the problem because its been a while since I had issues with mine, but there's still a pretty good chance its the problem.
You can buy an antenna mast cable repair kit from Zip or Eckler's, IIRC. I bought this kit, it came with a new nylon cable and a new metal ring to re-assemble the case with. When the parts inside my antenna case went flying across the garage, I called The Last Detail and ordered a repro antenna assembly. Problem solved.
Last I checked, most of the catalog outfits did not have the mast repair kit anymore. The Last Detail (find them on Ebay) did have them. Note that other GM cars used the same antenna. My 93 DeVille has the same mast nylon cord. I bought a few from Zip and Ecklers over the years. Used the Last Detail last time.

Stoge:
I put on a new Power Antenna and have the same problem. Do you know where the ( Power Antenna Relay ) is located. This would be the one from the relay to the antenna? I will replace that relay next, after I find out it's location. Again I have a 1979 Vette.
Why not 'bench test' the antenna(in the car)?
Pull the white/green/gray connector out of the relay, and with a couple of wires directly to the battery try raising and lowering it.
There are limit switches inside the antenna that SHOULD turn it off when it reaches it's up and down limits.
To raise it...
green +
Gray -
To lower...
White +
Green -
If it continues to run in either direction it's the antenna.
