Default Leaky C3 Gas Tank

Has anyone on the forum had this problem? I put a new tank in my 68 when I bought thje car and gas leaks out of my tank from somewhere whenever the fuel sloshes hard to the passenger side of the car. It is running across the tank support and dripping on the right muffler. The fuel line is not leaking and neither is the metering seal. The tank is always at least 3/4 full. At first I thought the seam was bad in the tank but wouldn't it leak all the time if it was? I'm also thinking the gas is coming from the vented gas cap. Hopefully someone on the CF can advise me before I pull the tank out. Thanks, Dave

The fuel return line runs to a small nipple on the passenger side of the tank. Is yours connected? Even if connected, might be leaking from that spot.

My car doesn't have a return line. Exactly where is the nipple located? Thanks for responding. Dave

This is what a 68 gas tank looks like.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I went ahead and plugged the nipple with a short piece of vacuum hose with a bolt in one end. Will this create any fuel flow or vapor lock issues for me? Dave

Very nice 68 Convertible, I really like the color. Is it an original?
