Default '75 heater hoses

I'm putting together a "basket case" and am curious... the heater core fittings exit facing straight down. Are there preformed hoses to be used or short hose adapters to steel tubing going forward towards the front of the engine?
Seems like an awkward angle to try to run and secure rubber hoses. Thanks for any help.
Jeff.

On my '77 they are rubber all the way. One 5/8 the other 3/4. Should be a vac. controlled water shut off valve, I think in the 5/8. And yes they curve back up toward the engine by bottom of frame. mike...
