I have a 71 corvette and had a 77 T&T column installed years ago. Getting it back on the road after nearlt 20 years. I had a small capacitor fall out from under the dask. Looks like a radio capacitor .5 mpf, cant find any bare ware or wear it came from.
Is it 2 wire or 1 ? There are several caps under the dash. I know I can't think of all of them.
There is 1 on the brake light switch,1 on the 12 brown wire at the ignition switch,1 behind the clock , might be 1 on the ammeter ,1 on the hazard flasher and 1 on the turn flasher. I'm sure there are probably more.
Thanks
Its 1 wire and the numerous schematics I have only show one on the 12 brown.
my wiring is all jacked as i have a 77 interior in a 71 and it had sustained a small dash fire whem i purchased. I am try to get it to the point wher everything works and continues to work. Currently countless hours spent on tracing wires and schematics are less than perfect. Can you tell me the purpose of all thes caps ?? is it just to suppress radio noise ???
Yep just radio noise suppression. Wouldn't worry much about the cap but if the wire is still sticking out of a connector that broke off the cap it could be hot and cause some problems.
