yes, you state numbers matching all original, then you claim lack of knowledge of what this means.. and then you claim you don't care about that.. so just make sure you know what you are buying.. either this one or another one..
if you don't care, then there are lots of better shape cars out there with newer components that are not priced as all original and numbers matching that perhaps may suit you better..
yea i think he may have just been naming off things to try and sell the car quickly. I know the only reason he went to the show was to try and sell the car. He bought a 92 vette and doesnt have room for this one anymore
Why are you calling this a "survivor?" Generally that term refers to "unrestored original."
The engine compartment is not just messy, it has been changed at length. The Accel ignition box, air cleaner, valve covers, nightmarish contraption that is supposed to be a fuel filter assembly, wires, carb linkage... And what is going on with the Edelbrock intake with the oil filler tube in the front? Isnt this style from the 327s???
By the way... that blue overspray on the hood hinge and firewall? Not original. Not survivor.
I cant see enough of the interior to comment beyond the covers on the wheel and seats. Id love to see the frame and body closely.
You say its numbers matching... did you look? Or are you believing the seller? I have a feeling I know the answer.
You might be able to get a deal on this thing, but it needs far more examination than youve been told so far.
i cant remember why i didnt ask about the cushion or the weird seat covers
I know why. Men have two brains, but not enough blood to run both at the same time. We tend to think with our lower brain when we look at flashy shiny things, four wheeled or two legged. Many bad decisions have been made over the eons because of this. Lots of money usually fixes them.

I think the most correct term is "money pit"-----but what the heck!!!
I would have a careful look at the passenger front fender. That grille is not the original (has the screws in the front trim) compared to the driver side.
It really does look like it's been hacked around a little, but at the right price and with some sweat, skin donations and money...?

Grill replacement is very common. Both of mine were replaced in it's past. Original grills with the correct mounting studs are VERY expensive, when you can find them. They are fragile and if dropped, can brake easily.

A Chevy SB intake fits from '55-'85 as far as bolting up. The front oil filler tube was used '55-'68 so aftermarket intakes of the day had the provisions (as does a factory '69 Z28 intake). It also gives the ability to use valve covers with no holes. I wouldn't fixate on this one item.
Try to find someone at a local Corvette club who has or knows this model year as each model year has its peculiarities. Have that person or someone form this forum who lives near you go with you to evaluate the car so you have a chance at getting a fair deal without being taken over the hurdles, so to speak.
I did the same thing with a certain model Benz I wanted and I loved everyone I saw until a mechanic kept saying "no" until we found the right one and now I have had it for 18 years and it sits in the garage next to my 68 Corvette. Perfect car and no regrets
I know 68 Corvettes, (restored mine to factory original0 but knew nothing about Mercedes Benz SLC's so I let an expert who knows Benzes do the checking; glad I did or I would have been in trouble big time.
Good luck with this car and let us know what you decide or how you make out.
I agree with previous poster; you are the lifeblood of this hobby and we need more enthusiastic Corvette young people like you.

This is only so funny because it is so true.
Seriously, guys, if this is a real '70 and isn't a rust bucket, and has a price tag under $10K, I'm thinking the price tag is reflecting the obvious non-originality that is evident in the pictures. That said, I'm not liking the look of the door gap on the driver's side
I got ahold of a local corvette dealer and will have the car inspected later this week for $125 and i'm also trying to get ahold of my local corvette club to see if they have anyone willing to take a look
Going to buy a black book and c3 buyer's guide tomorrow afternoon
That car has been for sale on craigslist for about 6 months. I went to look at it and all I can say is there's a lot better cars out there for a lot less money.

Well i would like to see some of those that are less and have chrome bumpers on em! Most anything i have seen in the past years is a parts pile if its under 5000.00,, but a deal can be found if youre patient and have funds ready.... I have bought way too many corvettes over the years and have only been DUPED by one BADD RUSTY frame and winshield that was hidden very nicely with some screen wire,LOTS OF BONDO, and some undercoating... A 73 4 speed coupe non ac... I frame offed it and made a bigblok car, added some options, painted it red, with black leather.. $5000 for the car, spent around 23,000 including the car.. and sold it reluctantly to a lady in fla. for 25,000.... but had a ball doing it and it was a show stopper!!!!! labor was on me except paint....... So becareful if you cant do alot yourself.. better to spend a bit more now than a lot later....... Oh yeah, i have bought many from up north and with (KNOWINGLY) badd frames but very excellent bodies and drivetrains.... good luck and get someone with some corvette smarts to give you a tally on the deal...... oooooppss got carried away..

Agreed (mine are replaced too) but only ONE had been replaced...so maybe that would lean more torwards it potentially ate a curbside?
I believe 1970 Vettes came with a 5 port washer pump. Looks like a 3 port in the photo.
Didn't see the squirter nozzles I'd expect on the open headlight. Wondering why the headlight bezels were replaced...
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
